FORWARD study area

The Forward study area is located in the Algarve province of southern Portugal. It is an eco-system that accommodates multiple uses. These uses include tourism and marine protected areas, as well as development of offshore aquaculture parks, and many other activities.

One of the most important activities is shellfish and finfish aquaculture. Represents 41% of the Portuguese national production and is mainly composed of bivalve shellfish, with a small finfish production (for more information click in markers in the map).
